Hi, I'm Tom Hopcroft

I am the proud father of two boys, one attending Lynch @ Parkhurst and the other at Winchester High School.

Alongside my wife, Victoria, we've actively contributed to our community for the past 18 years. Through our journey we've gained invaluable firsthand experiences, navigating the intricacies of seeking school support, managing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and 504 plans to address our children's diverse needs, including dyslexia, dysgraphia, and executive functioning challenges.

Elected to the School Committee in 2021 and currently serving as Chair, this role has been both fulfilling and demanding. It's been a privilege to serve our community and deepen my understanding of the many diverse needs, resources, and perspectives in our town.

As a candidate for re-election, I'm often asked about "my issues." Yet, I believe that the effectiveness of a candidate isn't solely defined by specific issues. Rather, it's the values they embody that shape their assessment and decision-making process, especially regarding issues that may not yet be apparent.

Raised in Ithaca, NY, as the son and grandson of educators, I've inherited values of educational excellence; diversity, equity, belonging, and inclusion; fiscal discipline; and honesty, integrity, service, and respect. These values have guided my decision to raise a family and engage civically in Winchester, a community that mirrors these shared values.

Those who know me can attest that I am an honest broker, dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment

that prioritizes the individual needs of every student in our district. My approach is centered on maintaining an open mind and a singular focus on a fair, deliberative process for making decisions that support the well-being of all our students.

I believe in cultivating a safe and welcoming space for productive dialogue where every voice is heard. Only through a truly inclusive process can we make the most informed and thoughtful decisions and advocate for investment of our town's limited resources.

The School Committee has the responsibility for establishing safe, secure, comfortable, and sustainable physical learning environments. We are committed to cultivating a supportive social-emotional atmosphere, where all of our students, educators, and staff have the support they need and feel a sense of belonging.

I respectfully ask for your vote on Tuesday, March 26th, and look forward to being able to serve this remarkable community for another term. Thank you.

-Tom Hopcroft
