THE CHALLENGE

Federal interference threatens Massachusetts' climate progress. Some lawmakers suggest relaxing our commitments. But climate change doesn't wait for politics, and neither should we. We must stand firm on our goals while finding practical ways to move forward.

MY APPROACH

Stand firm on climate commitments - Respond to federal interference by strengthening state-level action, accelerate timelines where possible, show that Massachusetts won't retreat from climate leadership

Defend clean energy investments - Protect offshore wind projects, support solar expansion, ensure Massachusetts maintains its competitive edge in clean energy economy. The transition to clean energy to meet our growing demand means more predictable, dependable, and cost effective energy that’s free from the uncertainties and fluctuations of the global market.

Champion climate tech innovation and entrepreneurship - Support climate technology incubators like Greentown Labs and the startups developing breakthrough solutions, defend research funding that drives innovation, ensure Massachusetts remains the global leader in climate tech, and create pathways from research to commercial deployment and manufacturing

Accelerate local climate solutions - Support municipal climate action plans, fund building electrification and weatherization, enable communities to achieve their climate goals with state support

Build resilient communities - Prepare for climate impacts we can't prevent, invest in green infrastructure, protect vulnerable populations, ensure equity in climate adaptation

Create green, accessible, safe communities - Support walkable neighborhoods, safe bike infrastructure, accessible transportation for people using wheelchairs and walkers, tree canopy and green space, quality of life improvements that also reduce emissions

Support clean energy job creation - Ensure the transition to clean energy creates good-paying jobs with training pathways, support workforce development in HVAC, solar installation, electrical trades, energy efficiency

Work within business to drive change - Support companies making climate commitments, help build business case for decarbonization, recognize that working with businesses gets results faster than fighting them
